got a question. I have a Sniper 16mm SD telecine unit made by Moviestuff. I have the HD version for 8mm (it uses a Canon HV-30), and thought I could just switch the camera over to use instead of the 3CCD unit so I can do HD 16mm. The problem is the HV-30 uses a CMOS sensor and not CCD, and the subtle vibration of the 16mm projector unit causes very small areas or smear and wobble on he resulting transfer.
The Sniper creator tells me that the projector unit needs to be completely rebuilt & re-cased to eliminate the rolling shutter issue with the camera. My question to all of you is is there a Canon Camera(or Sony if you like) that has a Global shutter I could use instead, that would eliminate this issue.
Couple of important specs that a different camera would have to meet:
1- it has to have the same lens and threading as the HV-30, as a special macro lens was made for it and must be switched over
2- It must have great white balance functionality as the HV-30
3- It must have uncompressed HD output (via RGB Rca) like the HV-30
It needs to be relatively compact. Any ideas you think could work would be welcome. Price is obviously a consideration. Many thanks!
