Newbie Canon C100 Questions
on Apr 8, 2013 at 7:21:08 pm

I have a couple quick questions on the Canon C100 as I'm planning to make the switch over from the Canon 5D.

Memory
-What memory cards would you recommend?
-How much 1080p HD video can you record on a 16GB SD card? 32GB SD card?
-What is the battery life?
-To be sure, are Zeiss ZE lenses compatible?

I have a corporate video project coming up. It is a 7 hour training session that I am to record. No editing needed just pure documentation.

I already know that a 5D isn't the best option for this job. But this job isn't the only reason for the switch or even the main reason for it. I'd like to make the C100 the main camera for my video projects moving into the future.

Thanks in advance,
Keane

Hey there,

1. I recommend using these cards. I have 10 of them and I love them, super fast and reliable. SanDisk is my favorite maker of cards.

2.
With an 16GB SD Memory Card
24 Mbps 1920 x 1080: 1 hour 25 minutes
17 Mbps 1920 x 1080: 2 hours 5 minutes
7 Mbps 1440 x 1080: 4 hours 45 minutes
With an 32GB SD Memory Card
24 Mbps 1920 x 1080: 2 hours 55 minutes
17 Mbps 1920 x 1080: 4 hours 10 minutes
7 Mbps 1440 x 1080: 9 hours 35 minutes

3.

390 maximum and 235 minutes typical( this battery is not a smart battery and is quite large so it will stick out of the the battery well, Still a great battery)

4. I was under the impression that all Zeiss ZE lenses were EF mounts anyways.

I love this camera and I am sure you will too!
