Youtube Audio Problems on Some Computers
on Aug 2, 2010 at 5:11:27 pm

The company I work for does web series that we host on Youtube. I shoot on a Canon GL2 with a Sennheiser E835 plugged into an XLR adapter into the microphone jack on the camera. I edit and produce in Premiere, exporting to F4V for Youtube.

When I'm on my computer at work, the videos sound fine. But we've been getting comments and I noticed this at home recently that the audio from the microphone sounds tinny. A good example would be this video: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=aETIHQj2StY

The beginning intro videos sound fine with the music and sound effects but once we go into the news segments, the audio sounds really tinny. Now, it sounds right now to me at work but when I'm at home on my Macbook, it sounds bad. A few of friends said it sounds fine and a few said it sounds tinny.

Now this video we recorded on a Canon XH-A1 that someone we hired brought to a show.

We didn't get any comments on the videos done on the XH-A1 with the same microphone.

I figure the problem has something to do with the camera but that doesn't really explain why the audio problems are apparent on only some computers.

Does anyone have any idea what causes this and what I can to fix it?
