Panasonic will release a camcorder later this year with SLR sized sensor, it will record to AVCHD but will also have an HD-SDI output and have XLR for audio. Here is some info

http://www.photographyblog.com/news/panasonic_ag-af100/

Maybe this will push canon to do what everybody wants and put a 5D Mark2's sensor in a pro camcorder body...

I think this camera from Panasonic will definitly make this much closer to becoming a reality, faster.

That is great news.

I'd prefer not to buy a Panny, but hopefully that will be the kick in the butt that Canon needs to get one in gear... one based on their XL series line would be nice (and pleeeease removable lenses).

And hopefully Panasonic's version won't look quite like the Fisher Price toy that the rendering shows.

That's very impressive. As a Panasonic guy, I'd be all over it if I hadn't just bought my Canon T2i this week.

At this point, it doesn't look like RED's Scarlet will have much of a demand when it comes out. The DSLRs and stuff like this have eaten up the low end of the market.

Man, I wish I could have gotten to NAB to see that this year, though I suppose it's just a mock-up?

From some other forum searching, it looks like the AG-AF100 will be in the $6K range. Supposedly the issues of aliasing with the Lumix sensor are going to be overcome, and it will have uncompressed HD-SDI out. From what I've seen, the 4/3" mount will let you use just about any lens you can imagine (Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Leica, PL mount, and almost anything else).

Not the perfect camera for all uses, but It's coming very close.
