I have a canon Xl1s. I have a video shoot coming up that is going to be outdoors.I've never had a reason to worry about audio since most of the work I do gets dubbed over with voice-overs and music. The few times I've needed sound, the shotgun has done a good job. But, I think that since the guy is going to be interviewing people outside at an amusement park, I will need to use an external mic rather than the shotgun that came with the camera- like a cartiod or mabey a lav.
I don't have it with me as I'm typing this so my next question may sound obvious...
anyway, I don't have any extra mics of my own and the one my friend has has an XLR input. The XLR adapter for my camera is expensive-even on ebay. Is there any other way to connect an external mic?
Im not that savy when it comes to audio but is there some simpler kind of set up I can get at like radio shack or something that can be plugged into my camera?
If so, just tell me what I need to buy and how to hook it up.
