Export to XL1 problem
on Oct 8, 2007 at 2:21:04 pm

Hey people,

I can't seem to get my video from my computer to my XL1. I am able to capture video from my XL1 to my computer without a problem. But when I open Premiere and try to play the timeline in order to export to my XL1 all I get is a blue screen. It does say "DV IN" on the blue screen so I believe that the camcorder thinks it is hooked up and ready. If I unplug the cable I get the "CHECK THE DV INPUT" message.

Sometimes I am able to see one frame of the timeline but then it switches back to the blue screen. I have tried a different Firewire cable but get the same results. I have also tried to clean the connections with a little isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab. Still no luck.

I also tried to export the video from my Edius LE editor. That didn't work either.

Another thing I tried was switching between battery power and using a plug-in power source for the XL1. No change.

Any suggestions on what to try next?

Canon XL1
Canopus DVStorm
Adobe Premiere Pro
Edius LE
IEEE 1394 Firewire cables

Try posting this in the Premiere Pro Forum. There's a lot more traffic there than here in the Canon forum.
