Night shooting, bad lighting, XL-1

Hey guys,

I shot some footage of a voudou ceremony in New Orleans the other night. It was late, dark and candle lit with about 200 people there. With my eye, as usual things were lit the way I'd like them to be captured. But even with my Iris open all the way and my shutter speed down I'm getting very little light. I have a sun gun but its disturbing to people and also doesnt give the natural candle light that I want. Also, through my eye piece its so dark I cant see anything but when I do capture I see alot more. Still cant get it right.

Any help? Is this just what I'm stuck with haveing the XL-1?

thanks.

Todd

Have you tried:
Set XL1 into Spotlight Mode, Set Gain to Auto, Set WB to Auto???

You could also try TV Mode (Shutter Speed Priority), set Shutter Speed to 1/30 second (might want to activate Frame Mode if you drop below 1/60 second), Set Gain to Auto, Set WB to Auto

Good luck!

This is a job for a Sony PD-170.

There is nothing better in low light.
