Good evening everybody...
I am considering starting up a production company and we are looking at purchasing some Canon H1s. I came across some advertisers who were listing their price as being 3 to 4000 dollars less than normal. Are these deals scams and just wondering how (broken cameras, missing parts, stolen goods, etc.)? I've seen this question posted on other sites, only not to be allowed to be answered b/c of advertising concerns. So I hope me asking this isn't construed as supporting or opposing anyone particular vender, just trying to understand whats with these extreme deals (which I've seen with many other products than Canons' cameras.)
Before you purchase a Canon XL H1, make sure you are dealing with an authorized Canon XL H1 reseller. Not all retailers are... Those retailers who advertise thousands of dollars under MAP (Minimum Advertised price) are not worth your time. They are at the very least NOT authorized by Canon and are not selling products with proper serial numbers eligible for warranty service in the US. That is why they probably will try to sell you an expensive 3-year warranty along with the camera.
