Canon XL2 and FCP question
on Jun 15, 2006 at 11:36:55 am

Hi,

I've been editing on FCP for a short time; sometimes in 16:9 material, sometimes 4:3. My final renders sometimes comeout squished vertically. I've been resizing them in Quicktime pro, but would like to get a handle on what's going on.

Someone mentioned that the XL2 is actually different because of the way it shoots 16:9, (number of pixels). Someone else mentioned it has to to with the import, session and output setting, but I can't get a solid grip on what to do.

Any suggestions? Any suggested reading?

Thanks,

Ty Ford

HI Ty,

Just capture to FCP using the DV NTSC Anamorphic setting. Before capture your project and sequence settings should also be the same, and be sure to use the same setting for your export to QT.
