How do I use the Timecode In/Out features of the Canon XL H1 cameras in a multi-cam shoot?

Greg,
To sync the timecode from one camera to the other you have to set the timecode out in the menu. Use a BNC from Camera 1 TC out to Camera 2 TC IN
Both have to have timecode on free run and set to the same Drop Non drop setting. If you disconnect after syncing they will probably drift over time.
If you want better accuracy you should genlock the cameras with cables. You can run the video of one camera to the genlock in of the other but be careful you don't disconnect the cable while recording becasue you could get a glitch on recording when you disconnect. A sync generator is preferable for this.

You can also use something like Ambient Lockit boxes. They drift less than one frame per 24 hours, so you can jam sync the Lockit boxes, connect them to TC-in on the camera, and let them keep the cameras in-sync. We've used them often on multi-camera shoots with the F900 with great success.
