Moray Issue HD to SD DVD

I have a video mastered in Pro Res HD Square - No Fields. A shirt that a talent was wearing causes moray on the Medium 2SHT. Any suggestions for removing or minimizing this issue? I've tried using the Frame Mode in Compressor set to Best Motion Compensated. It helps a little, but not much.

here's a link to view stills of the footage.

hi,
first of all you might tell us which frame-rate you are using and if you need to go PAL or NTSC.

but if you have really sharp HD-pictures, you need to soften (donĀ“t laugh!) the picture.

cheers

Pro Res 1920x1080 Square No Fields 30p NTSC is the original sequence.

Being mastered to NTSC SD DVD.

I shot with a Canon XLH1 a while back and discovered that if you leave the SHARP setting to anything, but off you'll get terrible moraying on anything with a sharp horizontal edge. My assumption is that the original shooter probably has his detail or sharp settings too high.

And now as the editor, I have to compensate for it.

I'll leave the actual issue to others, but the proofreader in me has to point out:

It's "moire" not moray. Actually to be accurate to the French origin, the e should have an accent on it that I don't know how to add here on the Cow.

Not trying to be picky, just striving for accuracy with video terms.

Have fun (and may you not run into any eels in your video work)!

Funny Rob.

Ain't it funny how our powerful electronic media, such as this forum, allows us to communicate with one another all across the world at the speed of light while at the same time cause our thinking and communication skills to diminish?

All the best...
