Rename DVD without touching anything else?
on Feb 4, 2010 at 11:18:06 pm

I just got a DVD master from a client and the DVD itself is named incorrectly. Everything else is fine, no need to change anything in the menus, video, etc.

I have Cinematize Pro and Toast and am pretty sure I can do it, but I'm not quite sure what files I would bring out with Cinematize.

Has anyone done this or know the exact work flow?

Thanks!
Matt

Just drag the TS folders to your desktop and burn a new disc in Toast - renaming it of course! :)

Leave it to me to complicate matters when the solution is so simple. :)

Thanks!

Make sure it is set to DVD-ROM (UDF) as the format.

Cinematize is not for this at all, it is to deconstruct the DVD.

For some reason I was thinking I would need to extract the VOB stream. My first thought was to just copy the VIDEO_TS folder and re-burn, but I thought that had to be way to easy.

When I re-burn in Toast, is there a difference in using the "DVD-ROM UDF" mode and the "VIDEO_TS Folders" mode?

Not sure what the Video TS mode uses for the name of the DVD, It made use the folder that it is placed in. So you would have to test that.

The "VIDEO_TS Folders" mode seems to read the title from the files without letting you change it. The DVD-ROM UDF mode lets you change the title.

One last ? - is there a best practice for how long a DVD title should not exceed?
