DVD from _TS folders
on Mar 22, 2008 at 6:26:08 pm

Hello -

Please forgive what is probably a remedial question.

I have been given a DVD containing an "VIDEO_TS" and "AUDIO_TS" folders.

How can I get this to work as a playable DVD?
I'd love to avoid re-compressing it.

Thanks.

How was the DVD created, and does it play on a computer, but not in a set-top dvd player? What files are in the VIDEO_TS folder?

Do you have any dvd-video burning software?

Regards,
George

I have no idea how it was created it has been handed off by a client. It is supposedly an archive of his reel. I guess of the authored DVD of the reel.

It does not seem to play on either a computer or set top.

The files inside the folders are as follows

VIDEO_TS:

VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_1.VOB

AUDIO_TS:

empty

I have DVD SP available..

I could probably extract the material via Mac the Ripper/MPEG Streamclip and then recompress/reauthor a new DVD, but I was hoping there was some way to create the correct Disc Image directly with these folders.

Just cant figure out how to get it to play ....

THANKS!

If you happen to be running "windows" in an intel mac, then you could download the free IMGBURN software. You would copy your VIDEO_TS folder to a folder on your hard drive, then use IMGBURN to BUILD the dvd from the folder -- it can write directly to dvd, or create an image.

Hopefully, the VIDEO_TS you have is a "complete" dvd-video (not sure why it won't play on your computer if it is complete). It wouldn't play in a set-top dvd player if it was burned incorrectly.

George

Copy the folders onto your computer, and burn them with Toast. Set type of disc to DVD-ROM (UDF), go to disc>new disc, drag the TS folders into the toast window and burn.
