HD-DVD Authoring (What software is the best?)
on Apr 21, 2006 at 3:04:12 pm

Just a question for those out there with knowledge of HD-DVD authoring tools. Which system is the best (Encore, DVD Studio Pro, Sonic)? I have a friend that is going to be doing quite a bit of this and has to put together a system to get these done on.

Studio Pro can author HD-DVD (no Blu-Ray, Yet) disc that do play on the new Toshiba Systems. But there have been some problems with the overlays.

Sonic has platforms for both standards which will set you back several 10s of thousands of $.

Wait till after NAB to see where we go from here.

I don't think encore will author HD DVDs? - could be wrong?

Its good to be prepared right now but its a little to soon to start authoring discs at this point - players aren't even really available.

Avid new Studio Toolkit is said to be able to author Blu-Ray. No details beyond just that at this time.
