We've just started using Cinema Craft and after a week of tests I'm pretty confident in what I'm doing with this piece of software. However, one thing seems a little unclear to me: When using the VBR Bit Allocation I cant quite work out whether or not any changes affect the entire MPV file. The manual tells me that locking off a section of the encoded file will prevent that part from being touched when the next encode is exectued. But when I lock a section off and increase my bit rate for the remainder I notice the file size doesnt change but the graph suggests that all locked video is reduced in size to compensate for the boosted section.
Does anyone know if I'm right in this assumption? I want to maximise my time by not having to watch thru every re-encode in full but obviously I need to know if each re-encode is essentially a brand new asset and needs a thorough QC again.
