I operate a couple of different companies, one of them being a hunting show for the web. I've got a couple of opportunities ahead of me that will require the ability to shoot at night using infrared cameras. I was wondering what cameras I should look at. The highest price I'll go is $1,000, and I know Sony has a model with something called NightShot, which also includes a much needed audio-in port for a microphone, but I was wondering what other alternative exist, even if they're more expensive (or less expensive).
For a budget below a grand, I'm guessing you're probably going to have to troll ebay or military surplus sites for ex-Soviet military-grade night scopes. That, or try some of the security video company sites for IR-sensitive cams.
