3rd Person POV type camera movement used to depict intoxication?

I have seen this method of cinematography used in countless productions to depict intoxication in a weirdly pov yet 3rd person type shot and I love it.

I can't work out how it is achieved though. It seems as though they have literally strapped a very wide camera to the actress somehow but I'm sure thats unlikely except with something like a go pro but I doubt this was filmed with a gopro. Still possible though, it is very wide but the low light shots make me doubt it entirely.

Here is an example of the cinematography:

Does anybody know how this is done?

Thanks.

Yep, it's a go pro or lipstick camera attached to a boom, the boom mounted to a rig out of shot on her waist. Any intrusion of the rig into the shot is rotoscoped/painted out.

Yes, just confirming what Mark said, that's how they do it.

For many years this was known as a "DoggiCam," shot, as DoggiCam is the brand name of the rig that is most used...

...but of course no doubt it was a much smaller camera used in this example, as Mark said maybe even a lipstick camera.

Very interesting, I've never seen these rigs used for such creative purposes before and assumed they were exclusive for action filming with go pros and such.

Yeah those rigs have been around long before GoPros existed.

One of my favs is Billy Bob Thornton's drunk Doggicam shot in the movie "Bad Santa."
