newb question - best to shoot in 60fps and render down to 24fps in post?

I've got a project coming up and I'm trying to find away to give the director maximum options in post. He stresses he wants a filmic look but also loves to use slow motion. When I'll have advance warning I'll adjust the shutter speed to either 1/100 or 1/250 for best slow mo results in post, but it's a documentary project and we won't get to plan shots. Much could happen and simply be captured through good fortune.

It seems to me the best solution is to shoot 60fps because then I can conform the footage to 24fps for slow motion while rendering down the regular-speed footage to 24fps so it matches.

Is there a downside to doing this?

(shooting on HF-G20 and XH-A1s)
