Camera troubles part 1
on Aug 6, 2011 at 5:06:29 pm

Hello,

I'll be brief:

for the past year, I have been working on a web series using a Panasonic HVX 200. It's a really nice camera and all, but I find that it uses up a lot of space when I sump the footage and begin to edit. I shot it in 720p at 30 frames. I know that shooting in HD makes the files bigger, but I want to focus on doing short sketches for a comedy troupe and I feel like using the HVX is a little overkill.

I am an amateur at all this, so the answer might simply be to shoot in 480 on the HVX, but I just wanted to get some advice before I went out to buy a smaller camera.

Thank you for reading and for your advice,

Nader

What codec are you editing this in, Pro Res?

I don't know what you mean by codec...so maybe that is my problem. I did an extremely quick google search of it as I am replying to you and learned that it's a video compressor...

when I make videos, after I dump the raw footage, I edit it with FCP or iMovie and then use AE to add the VFX.

Can you point me in the right direction?

(I apologize if my ignorance is frustrating, but thank you for your patience!)

This question may be betetr handled in the Final Cut Pro Basics forum. You're going to require a bit of hand-holding on this.
