mind boggling-how has this light been achieved

hey guys. i really wanted to ask . if you look at the linking park's video "from the inside"

in the shot 0:25 - 0:30

and 0:35 - 0:40

you can clearly see that all the avialable light is diffused.which might tell you that i has been shot on a cloudy day ..Soft light all around (when people are running here and there and the singer is walking towards the camera) not casting any hard shadows.but you can clearly see in the background there is some sort of hard light.which is blowing out the background in the depth. how has that been achieved .i still cant figure it out.

Noor,

The soft lighting in the foreground is either because its in the shadow of the buildings (early morning or late in the day) or because they flew a large silk across the street, building to building. Sometimes large silks are hung from construction cranes.

Overcast sky, lots of smoke and fog, those things help as well.

Looks to me like the sun is blowing out the back, aided by large doses of "fog". The street is mostly in shade, but on the right side of this closer shot we see direct sunlight on the building where the sun cut through. Here the buildings on the left are less high.

More sun shows further on:

theres direct light in the background but diffused light in the foreground ,,how has that been achieved. one way would be to cover the foreground with something in sun.but is there any other way as well
