HDMI or Component

Hi Guys,

I am planning on buying a 1080p TV to hook up to my Sony HVR Z5 for monitoring purposes and was just wondering which cable to buy for better resolution-HDMI or Component. There seems to be a big debate going on as to which has a better resolution, the digital signal of HDMI or the analog of Component...

Any thoughts...

Cheers.

I would go with Component. The BnC connections are much more stable and will survive more abuse in the field. The HDMI connection, In my opinion, isn't designed for field use and would likely be an issue after some use. Component can be run 100ft and show little to no signal loss. Where HDMI can stop working altogether at 25 or 30 feet from my understanding. Just my 2 cents for what it's worth.

What the HDMI would be good for however would be hooking up to a LCD or plasma at a home or office to review footage with a client for example. One cable gives you great picture and sound. Probably more of what they had in mind when they added the connection to the camera.
