Shooting in the desert at dusk and in the evening

Hi folks,

I am working on a documentary and will be shooting some sequences at the Wise Observatory in the Negev Desert. I was wondering whether anyone had suggestions on the kinds of filters that might be useful for such a setting. In my fictional screenplay of events, I envision this beautiful exterior surrounded by stars. Getting that scene on to my P2 card could be an entirely different story! I will be shooting with the HPX500. Anyone have experience with shooting these kind of scenes? Have you tried time lapse and if so at what kind of record intervals? Thanks for your input.

Shooting stars un the night sky requires very long shutter/exposure times. This is best accomplished with a digital SLR with intervelometer function.

Did you ever shoot the night scenes?

How did they turn out?
