Wide Angle Lens Filter question
on Nov 1, 2007 at 7:55:55 pm

Just got a nice new shiny Fujinon XS13x3BRM wide angle lens (127mm) and of course am looking for a good filter to protect the investment. I had previously rented the lens and was told previous users had experienced some odd light issues when the filter was attached and it was recommended to remove the filter. Any filters you could recommend that would limit these issues? Much appreciated.

If you are just talking about a UV Filter or optical flat clear glass filter to protect your glass, I'd probably recommend a Schneider UV or Optical Flat Clear Glass filter. They're not the cheapest filters, but I've always been impressed with the quality of Schneider's optics.

B&W (Schneider) make special thin filters for wide angle lenses so they don't vignette. The actual steel ring is thinner so it doesn't stick out in front of the lens obstructing the angle of view. This could also be a factor with your lens and is always the best choice with any wide angle lens filter.

"everything is broken" ......1st. coined by Esther Philips I believe.
