How DO you interpret the codes on lenses? Thinking of buying a HPX500, and trying to determine which lens to go with. Obviously I could buy the most expensive package & call it a day, but I'd rather be slightly more informed than that. eg; Canon KJ16x7.7B-IRSD HDgc versus Fujinon XA17X7.6BRM-M58B
Or is this cloaked in the veil of "crew-only" knowledge, like C47's?
PS - I've looked at the specs, but that's lilke reading a racing sheet to see which horse is going to win - they ALL "read good".
Now, click on "Lens Model Number" on the top right.
Let me know if this doesn't work.
just in case - a Canon KJ16x7.7B-IRSD HDgc is a Hi Def 16 power lens with a 7.7mm starting focal length, it has a built in extender, motorized zoom, manual focus, motorized iris, and a digital drive. It belongs to their new "gc" series.
Thanks Steve.... should have found that myself I suppose. I just found it hard to believe that a 2x extender is a $4000 difference between the KJ16x7.7B-KRSD HDgc & KJ16x7.7B-IRSD HDgc. But then I looked at the $39,000 models & decided to be happy Canon's got this new line of "affordable" HD lenses...
