Calibrating two cameras to look the same

Hi,

Was just wondering if anyone knew the best way to calibrate two cameras, a HVR-Z1 and a HVRA1P ? At the moment the colour output from these cameras is different and brightness is different too.

Also tips on setting up a monitor would be great.

Newbie~

Jason,

The best way to "match" two cameras is to use two of the same cameras! With professional cameras there are extensive controls like gains, gamma, ped, matrix, etc. that allow matching when both cameras are aimed a chip chart (with color patches for matrix) and observed on a waveform and vectorscope.

Fo your purposes, it's probably best to white balance on a common chart and do the matching in post.

Setting a common Iris for exposure goes a long way to make the images match also.
