Using UK based lighting in mainland europe
on May 18, 2010 at 7:12:49 pm

I've got a block of jobs coming up where i need to take my lighting setup from the UK over to Europe.

The kit consists of 4x 2k Arris, 6x Arri 800's and a couple of PB redheads. I've been doing the setup for this show around the UK for a few months now and have hit a few snags with circuit loading issues due to a lack of suitable outlets. The show is going to France, Germany, Italy and Spain. Although the voltage is same and the venues should be running breakers, i'm obviously concerned about hitting similar loading issues.

Does anyone have experience of lighting in these countries?
other than buying a bag full of converter sockets to plug into, is there anything i should be aware of? all my lighting and power reels have RCD protection on them but i was wondering if there are any issues such as earthing at power outlets on 2pin sockets?

Any advice or heads up on what i might encounter would be received most gratefully.
