Syncing timecode

Hi, is there a way to show timecode in my video and my audio bins view so that i can then drag the corresponding ones into a sync bin for syncing?

Cheers!
S

Hey Sean,

If I'm reading your post right, it's a simple answer. Yes - the columns you want are called "Start" and/or "End" - for start timecode, and end timecode.

Yes thank you. And can I batch sync if all audio and corresponding video are in one bin?

Also, can I sync to subclips I've made?

Hey,
Yep, if all audio and video master clips are in one bin, you can select all and 'autosync'.

I don't think you can sync to a subclip. It has to be master clips. If you need to join subclips with other subclips that's called a 'group'.

You can AutoSync subclips with other subclips or master clips.

Hi Michael, is there a way of doing this using timecode, as the subclip changes the timecode start time, so if i drag subclips into a bin with its corresponding audio master clips will autosync work?

Cheers again
Sean

Timecode is correctly maintained in the subclip as the correct offset to its master clip.

So as I understand you Michael, autosync see's the subclip timecode as linked to master clip timecode and therefore will sync correctly to audio?

I'm a bit unclear as to your overall question or goals, but when syncing Video to Audio with a common timecode, the resulting clip will be based on the sync timecode relationship between the two for the duration of the shortest clip of two clips being synced.

A video clip from 01:00:00:00 to 01:01:00:00 and an audio clip that is 00:59:00:00 to 01:02:00:00 will result in a clip that is 01:00:00:00 to 01:01:00:00. If the audio clip was subclipped in this example was 01:01:10:00 to 01:01:50:00, then the resulting sync clip will be 01:01:10:00 to 01:01:50:00. The same is true for video being subclipped. A resulting .sync subclip will never have filler (black) for either video or audio.

Thanks, I'd created subclip's before syncing external sound to video. So I wanted to get to the bottom of how timecode operates between subclip's and audio. I get you know, the audio will sync and be truncated based on the subclip's timecode and vice versa.
