How to interprete footage from 29.97 fps to 25 fps?
on Apr 2, 2017 at 5:41:25 pm

Hello,

I am working in 25fps workflow and most of the clips are in 25fps. However there are some clips with playrate of 29.97 fps that are actually slow motion videos shot at 100+ fps.

What is the best way to bring these clips into Media Composer without out of Avid transcoding? Is there a way to "interprete footage" and reorder frames so that they would fit 25fps (meaning that 1 second that contains 30 frames would transform into 1 second of 25 frames plus 5 frames extra) without the loss of frames?

In most cases, you can right click on a clip or clips and go to the playback tab of the source settings and set it to project rate. You cannot arbitrarily set it to any rate, just clip or project. This will play back at frame-for-frame.

Under the source settings I only have Color Encoding and FrameFlex tab. I am using Avid 7.0. Is there another way to do what you described in that version?
