opening timeline/bin created in different project settings Media Composer
on Feb 16, 2017 at 1:52:28 pm

Hi,

Ok - I've created a project and have been working within it for months. Come to find out the settings given to me were incorrect.

Project was edited with settings 1080 p/25 - I needed to be in a 1080i/59.54.

Is there any way I can get a timeline – in the new project? I don’t necessarily need to keep the associated files – I’m hoping they could be relinked by timecode later – but I’m REALLY hoping to get the timeline and re-do all the graphic elements I made.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Is this even possible??
thank you!
Lori

you can easily open the bin with the original timeline from within the 59.94 project.

File/open bin...work your way to the other project and select the bin with the sequence you want.

When you double click the bin it will tell you the sequence needs to be converted to the current project settings.

Your media will still work, but depending on the type of media you may notice some odd behavior from the motion adapters that get added.
(i'm assuming you are on a fairly current version of Avid)

Thanks Glen,

Yea - from the 59.94 project - I had no trouble opening up the bin created in the other project... the bin came in fine... however if I then double click on the sequence I want - I get a window that says "clip frame rate (25) does not match project frame rate (2997) - with the name of the sequence.

No offer to convert to current project settings is offered.

Am I not doing something right?

Make a new sequence. Load the old sequence into the PREVIEW monitor...and then cut it into the new sequence. Note...you'll have to leave out any text or titling, as that won't come over...

Thank you Shane - but it won't load into the preview monitor. I get the message "clip frame rate (25) does not match project frame rate (2997). Name (sequence name).

Thoughts?

Lor, i'm guessing you are on an older version of Avid? Pre 8.6-ish.

If you want to email a copy of the sequence i can try to convert it for you. I think you will still be able to open the converted version in an older version of Avid.
