Same Avid Project, different OS X's?

Hey all!

So I've been trying to step back Computer B from OS X 10.10.3 down to where Computer A is, which is 10.9.5, so that we can work on the same project. I'm having a hell of a time getting it there though, so I'm wondering how much of an effect it will have to work on the same project with two computers, same Avid 7.0.4.4, but differentt OS X's.

I should also add that we're not on a shared network, I was just going to manage the media between separate drives myself.

All info is much appreciated!
M

can't see a reason why it won't work, you should be fine.
unless I'm unaware of some new limitation....

As long as your V7 MC is supported on both OS versions all should be good.

Well this is all good news.
Additional question--what if we're using the mentioned OS's but also different versions of Avid? Meaning the 10.9.5 is on MC 7.0.4.4 but the OS 10.10.3 is on MC 7.0.6 (or whatever the latest 7 is)?

That's less ideal but still possible.
Ensure user settings aren't moved between MC Versions and ideally I'd not move projects. I'd create the same project on both systems (same name format etc) and just move bins between them. But if you have to move projects that should work. (as a rule I try and avoid moving projects and just move bins)

I agree.

One of Avid's less appreciated power feature is that bins are files you can move around, rather than folders unseparable from a project file.
Another one is its backward compatibility. you can open bins or projects made on newer Avids using older Avids... and quite far back if you know what you are doing...

Unlike many other systems where a .1 update makes it impossible to open projects smoothly backward.
