I am working on a bunch of workflow automation tasks on several platforms for implementation in VFX workflows. The reason I want to create the projects externally, is because I want to structure the projects and add a lot of metadata externally captured with the files.
AVID is an obvious candidate, but also seems pretty "closed".
Ideally I'd write a project-file (which seems unlikely) with bins, sequences and all metadata set up.
The actual video and audio files could be relinked upon opening, but I want to create the full project and connect metadata to the files in batch processes.
Yup. I know the answer is "AVID is not supposed to be used this way", but still I want to use AVID this way.
Could AAFs be a way to go?
Or probably an import plugin for AVID could do the trick, if AVID allows for plugins.
It's not about creating single sequences, but more complex projects.
