New Mac, 3 monitors?
on Jul 1, 2015 at 9:16:57 am

Hi guys,
Can anyone please tell me how I can run three moniotrs on my mac?

I am running Avid 8.3.1 on a Mac desktop 10.10.2
3.5 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Dan.

Which Mac Desktop? MacPro? iMac? MacMini? Does it have Thunderbolt? If so, three Thunderbolt monitors should do the trick. Or do you already have monitor? What connection types do they have? Do you want three computer displays, or two displays and one full screen playback of the timeline?

Specifics man!

:)

Thanks Shane,
Its a Mac Pro, and yes it does have thunderbolt.
I am currently running MC8 on two vga monitors via a thunderbolt converter.

I need a third monitor to run the full screen client monitor.

Is it a case of literally just plugging in a third monitor?

Thanks for the help.
Dan.

For client monitors, it's best to actually get an IO device. AJA T-TAP or BlackMagic Decklink Extreme Mini Monitor...

Thanks for the post Shane.
I'm not sure I need an HD TV as a client monitor tbh.
I am working from home and it's offline editing. I get clients come over maybe once a fortnight, mostly I export QT's for remote viewings.

I was just thinking of just a third monitor, similar to the two I use (Hanns G) and have it full screen.

If this is possible, is it a case of simply plugging one in?

Thanks again for help,
Dan.
