Export AAF quality loss?
on Apr 22, 2015 at 12:13:12 pm

Hi, got a bit of a newbie question. I'm using MC6 and I have some clips I want to sharpen + sort out the contrast and what not and I much prefer the AE unsharp filter.

So am I right in thinking if I export as an AAF (No transcoding) into After Effects then I won't lose any quality?

Strangely I couldn't find my answer online even though it was probably right in front of me.

You are a exporting a copy of your original media in the AAF wrapper. No additional compression.

However, you will get recompression when you export from After Effects. You can minimize this by exporting from AE using a hi quality codec. DNXHD 220X, maybe. Not sure what your original footage is.

Thank you, that's the answer I wanted, and expected.
