AMA linking > Transcoding Error / Editrate problem
on Oct 24, 2014 at 6:47:56 pm

hi all,

Footage is from a Panasonic HX-WA20 HD:

Format: MPEG-4 / AVC
1920*1080
Frame rate: 59.94 fps
Original frame rate: 29.97 fps
Scan type: Interlaced / Top Field First
(from MediaInfo)

Avid Project:
1080i/59.94

AMA linking works. When I try to transcode to DNx220 I get this message:
"Some clips do not match the edit rate of the current project. (...)"

When I AMA-link the footage into a 1080p/29.97 Avid project it looks horrible (interlace artifacts...).
PLUS I get the same error message before transcoding.

TIA

Not sure what the difference is between FRAME RATE and ORIGINAL FRAME RATE. but the FRAME RATE is listed at 60fps...and it's 1080. Avid doesn't work with 1080p60 files. But looking at the camera specs (VERY hard to find)...it shoots 1080i60...29.97fps.

Can you get past that error? or does it not let you?

Shane, thank you so much for your answer!

[Shane Ross] "..difference is between FRAME RATE and ORIGINAL FRAME RATE
I don't have a clue. That's what MediaInfo says.

[Shane Ross] "..Avid doesn't work with 1080p60 files"
It's definitely interlaced.

[Shane Ross] "Can you get past that error? or does it not let you?"
I just ignored the message for this time, and transcode went well.

It looks crappy (but no artifacts) which is maybe because of the camera anyway...

Yeah, that doesn't look like a high end camera. Pretty consumer. Lens isn't the best.
