Best way to find out is to do it. Because all of our answers may vary...depending on the machine we use to do the export. I'll wager it'll be done before someone who knows can chime in an answer...

I would also not do it directly out of Media Composer. I would either export an QT refrence, or same as source, and encode in MPEG Streamclip, Adobe Media Encoder, Compressor, Resolve, Sorenson Squeeze, etc.

Just curious, why wouldn't you do it out of MC?

The quality out of MC isn't great. I only do review exports directly from MC. Everything else is done with Adobe Media Encoder or Squeeze.

Gotta go along with Shane on this. Never directly export out of Avid if you want something that looks good. It uses a very old and clunky QuickTime export module. Fine for quick and dirty stuff, but not good for final delivery, unless you are exporting DNXHD.

This does not apply to using the new AMA based exporting for file based delivery (AS01, AS11). That stuff is fine, and does not use Quicktime at all.

Thanks John

So how exactly can one output a scene from the MC to Adobe Media Encoder or Squeeze?

Sorry for the topic drift, but . . .

Shane, when would you choose Squeeze over Media Encoder? I've always used ME, but I have Squeeze as part of the Symphony bundle. I've never used it as ME has always managed to do what I've needed. Is it better at some export formats?

Just wondering if there are compelling arguments to finally learn it.

Cheers,

Adrian.

I'd use Squeeze when I didn't have media encoder. Or when Squeeze had a preset that I need and ME doesn't. Happens on occasion.

Thanks Rainer
Out-, do you mean to device?
In my case I'm talking about Export not Output.
Export to QT file or any other video format.
