If I have a 3+ hour long QT; is there a way to import just part of the clip?

AMA Link and subclip the portions you want (or edit portions into a SEQ) then transcode only those portions.

Or use QT Pro to rough-cut that big file, then import it. It works.

AMA is faster than import. So AMA is always preferred.
