MultiGrouping Go Pro's problem.
on Jun 17, 2014 at 6:28:48 am

Hi there!

I am in desperate need of help! I've looked everywhere on these forums + google to find a solution to this problem, but there's nothing out there :(

I have recently started my first AE job (Hurray) and I instantly got thrown into multigrouping 8 cameras, 2 of them which are go pros.

I am using this guide to do it:

http://viewfromthecuttingroomfloor.wordpress.com/2008/04/17/multigroups/

The problem I'm having are the go pros. I line them up and sync them in the syncmap sequence (there's a clapper in the footage with TC that I use to sync). I give all of the footage the aux time code through the sequence like the guide says.
But after everything has been subclipped, the go pro footage's Auxillary TC never matches the duration, ever, it's always off by a couple of frames. That gives me the headache of having to go in and manually match the auxillary time codes with the durations every time on each go pro subclip. It's the only way the multigrouping will function.

And we're talking about going through about 800-1000 subclips a day.

What am I doing wrong? The Go-pros have no TC, but they're assigned a tape name, does that have anything with the problem to do?
