Reconnecting Media to a new drive
on Feb 20, 2014 at 6:22:11 pm

I had a drive crash on me. Luckily I had a backup of almost all the original media and transcoded material. It was a clone of the original drive - same file names and directories. I had a back up of the project file on my computer HD.

When I open up the project file and retrieve the current sequence bin from the Attic, all the media is offline. I have tried reconnecting the media in the sequence as well as tried batch import (multiple frame rates in the sequence so that did not work). Is there any other way to reconnect all the media to the new drive - that has the same folders and file names - quickly for the entire project?

If all the media is on the proper file path: HARD DRIVE>AVID MEDIAFILES>MXF>1...then it should reconnect automatically. If you have having issues, go into the numbered folders and delete the .mdb and .pmr files. When you go back to Avid, it will rebuild these automatically.

Deleting the 2 files fixed the issue. Thanks for the quick response.
