I've got a relatively uncomplicated timeline similar to one I've used several times with this configuration without problems.

Brought in some clips via ama, only two video tracks.
Then one section is photos using pan & zoom with some pan & zoom and fades applied on two layers. This is the section that seems to be freezing up on me.

My avid keeps freezing up on me.
Again, this is nothing more complicated than very similar timelines I've done without this problem.

I'm running a macBookPro Retina with 16gb memory and SSD. MC 7.0.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

More details about the photos....

What resolution?
What file type?

Running off the internal drive or an external? (Yes, I know an SSD is wicked fast, but there can be other bottlenecks besides disk speed.)

thanks for the response.
I was running of my external.
(usb 3.0)
My normal avid media drive.

But then I thought I'd see if that was the bottleneck, so I started running of the internal SSD.
Same problem with both.

Images are all JPGS at various resolutions, averaging around 4000x3000 pixels.
Large, but the same resolution that I"ve used a number of times without issues.

Seeming to recall that avid prefers TIFs to JPGs?

any thoughts?
THanks again!

JPEGS should be fine, however it won't hurt to convert them to tiffs. JPEGS are compressed, which involves a tiny bit of processing cycles to decompress. Your machine has a very fast processor, so I doubt that's the problem.

You might want to clear your renders and re-render the effects (Clear Renders in/out). Perhaps one is corrupt.
Make sure none of the photos are super large (the dimensions you mentioned should work fine, but if there are any that a super sized, it might cause a problem)
