which AVID should I buy?
on Dec 9, 2013 at 7:12:02 am

Hey,

I am looking to purchase an AVID program for my Mac but am not sure which one is best.

I have an imac g5 from around 2009, with a 3.06 GHz intel core 2 duo

4 GB of memory (1067 MHz DDR3) and will hopefully upgrade to Mavericks.

Just want to make sure I get the one that is most compatible with my machine.

Thanks for your help

Are you sure about your specs?

The last G5 iMac made was in 2006.

If you have a G5, you have a PowerPC processor which is incapable of running anything recent.

Thanks for responding.

Yeah I must be wrong then. Just looking at the past iMac models on Apple's support page. It looks like I have either the iMac 9 or 10.

Do you know which version of Avid works with that model?

Thanks for your help

The Avid version Matrix should have all the information you need. The Mac info starts about halfway down, with links to lists of which Mac models are supported.

everymac.com can be useful for identifying which Mac model you have, too, although its not always straightforward!
