Cutting 5D footage in 35mm project to slip audio 1/4 of frame

Has anyone done this, and are there problems down the line? I'm going to need to slip a lot because of sync issues and I'm guessing that 4 times more room will help. Thanks for any input.

I haven't done it with 5d sources, but I've done it with plenty of other sources (Red, Alexa, XDCAM...). Just tick the Film Options box when creating the project (and PRIOR to bringing in your audio).

I did some tests and it seemed fine but I was just wondering if down the line there might be some workflow considerations.

Thanks for your input, it's helpful.

I have never had issues. The only thing you might run into is that Film projects have limitations on trimming subclips beyond their edges. In video projects, you can trim past subclip edges, in film projects you cannot (to prevent metadata miscalculations between video timecode and telecine'd film sources).

I do it all the time for any file based camera format. There is no issue for lists, EDL.s and such. The only limitation you will have is the inability to trim past a subclip if used in the sequence. You can match frame back to the master clips and cut from there if needed.

I guess it begs the question, why after all this time, is this feature only in film projects?
Would seem to be useful in any double system sound scenario.

That discussion has been going on for many years.

At NAB I didn't see any "We're listening" signs at the Avid booth like I did at Adobe.
