Image offset in Media Composer
on May 11, 2013 at 9:35:07 am

Hi,
I searched the internet but I cannot find an answer. Can I offset an image in avid repeating horizontal / vertical pixels in MC 6? I'm looking for something like the "offset" effect in After Effects or the "offset" effect (under Tile effects) in Final Cut.
Thanks

You can do the same thing using the 'kaleidoscope' effect in 'Illusion FX'. By default it's set up to quite an over the top kaleidoscope but if you drop the symmetry down to 2, change the Centre settings on both the X and Y to 999 and the offset settings on both to -100 you should be at a similar starting point to the FCP offset, then you can adjust the offset parameters as needed.

Best

Paddy

At the moment I found a workaround. I use a push transition in a filler on the top of the clip I want to offset but I will check out the "kaleidoscope" effect too.
Thanks a lot.
