How to change length of subclip ?
on Dec 13, 2012 at 9:19:33 pm

I'm sure this is really obvious...

Possible to Trim or Extend a Subclip?

Is it possible to change the duration/length of a subclip? Like to trim or extend its handles? How?

Don't necessarily mean in sequence, but more specifically that entire subclip. Have a bunch of logged clips, some need to be extended.

Thanks!

Can't be done. Have to make a new subclip.

Can't try right now, but if you can unlink and modify subclips you should be able to relink them - as long as you don't modify past the master clip borders and as long as Source TC and Tape Name are the same.

pretty sure you can put a subclip on a sequence and trim past back to the original length of the clip, if thats what your asking.

Yeah, that's it. Actually figured it out and if need to match frame have the choice to match back to main sub clip or master clip. That's great to have the ability.

Thanks.

Not in a film project, though.

For anyone looking for answer here. I'm in Media Composer 8.4 right now and can't trim out a subclip in a 25fps 2K project. I have an action shot where sound man cut out early - resultant subclip makes it look as though the shot is over when there's quite a bit left. I wish Avid would change this behaviour. This could be very problematic in reality television, I think.
