1080i proxy

With DNx36 not supporting 1080i60 or 1080p30 what are people using for a 1080i proxy format?

The next DNx flavor is 100Mb... way too big! ProRes proxy supports 1080i but we'd prefer a cross platform encodable format. After that it's XDCamEX 35Mb but a long GOP proxy would be asking for trouble, no?

Unfortunately SD DV25 anamorphic may be the way to go.

Back to the future!

Thanks
John

We import all the footage at 10:1m. Have to do this in an SD project in order to get that.

[Shane Ross] "10:1m"

Ok now that's back to the future!

We'd need an easy to encode to codec. Merdian omf is anything but.

I'm very surprised by the lack of a suitable 1080i proxy format.

10:1m is MXF. Avid doesn't do OMFI anymore. Go with DV if you want. Either way, for low res 1080i you'll. You'll to go SD

I think you can still do OMF, if you set the Media Creation settings appropriately. But indeed, Meridien in MXF is also possible.

Have you tried changing the "format" of your project to 1080p29.97 and using DNxHD 45?

Thanks for the suggestion didn't know about DnX 45 but I think that will be too high a data rate.

I'm trying to fast import HDV but HDV is not listed in the Resolution pulldown. Is it possible to fast import HDV.mov or other wrapper?

Thanks
John
