I have a 90 min file exported from an Avid DS as DnXHD175.
I AMA it into Avid MC.
I tried to consolidate it. MC said about 8.5 hrs.
I then attempted to transcode it. MC said about 8.5 hrs.
Why would either a transcode or a consolidate of a 90min DnX175 take 8-9 hours?
Running on MacPro's multicore, tried both MC 5.5 and MC 6.01, 2 different systems, identical computers.
Thought it would be a 'fast' operation!
Also, when I look at the DS DnXHD175 file either in VideoSpec or imediaHUD it says it's an mpeg4 but with an Avid codec. Is this normal?
On the system with MC 5.5, I did a video mixdown of the AMA'd file, made a new sequence using this mixdown, then exported that from the MC using SAS, which resulted in another DnX175 file.
I then AMA'd this new file into the MC, started a consolidate and it was done in an hour.
Comparing the 2 DnX 175 files in VideoSpec and imediaHD reveals no discernible difference. The only real difference is one came from an Avid DS(8 hour consolidate) and one came from an Avid MC(1 hour consolidate).
Is there a difference in exporting DnX from a DS vs MC?
