Avid AMA importing/consolidating issue
on Jul 16, 2012 at 10:50:21 am

Having imported an AMA volume and on attempting to consolidate (something which I do many times in a day) I have one clip which wont consolidate and gives the error:

exception: failed to get the sample size from the AMA plugin.

This is the only clip it happens for and nothing has changed from my usual setup. Having browsed forums the only tip I've found is that it's likely an audio problem and to try to unlink and consolidate the video, but unfortunately that didn't work for me and I need the audio also.

Any help appreciated, thanks.

What format are you attempting to AMA?

Hmmm....can you play the AMA clip? Scrub it from head to tail.

The clip sounds damaged in some way then. Either when it was copied from the card, or recorded on the card in teh first place. I suspect the corruption happened in the copy process.

Try to subclip it. See what happens. If not...try transcoding just that one clip to DNxHD. Avid mixes formats fine...so that one clip being different codec won't matter.

Brill, sounds likely. Will give that a go, thanks.
