HI,im a sound guy and ended up with some nasty floating sync sound, i found out it was not spot on in the guide track , but no in the EDL or the AAF i received from the editor. the roblem is slip syncing. but i wonder if aaf cant use sample based export. heres in detail what happened.
when material with time code is synced in a project with 35 mm 3 perf as project. people usually sync there audio then in 3 or 4 perf depends on the setting. when exported to aaf it will be rounded of to a full frame. so all the carefull perf slipped audio wil end up either 1/3 frame to max 2/3 frame to late or to early. wich wil not being seen in the guide caus the guide is sample based accurate. but the AAF seems just like the EDL to work with full frames of time code.
if you sync in full frames, th clap can be a sync ofcourse but at least you can decide to put audio later always and the guide and the exported edl or AAF wil be at least sync with eachother.
