Avid Image Flip in preview monitor?
on Jan 29, 2012 at 3:44:54 pm

I just shot a ton of footage upside down with a Steadicam and am wondering if there is a way I can preview these clips flipped right side up without dropping them in the timeline. This way I can make my subclips. Is it possible to do that with MC 4.0.3?

Thanks!
J

Autosequence, apply the flip, and subclip from there?

No that won't work like that. I just need to flip the image right side up, no sync sound to it.

I think you are just gonna have to use the low tech solution and turn your monitor upside down until you are done sub clipping.

Cut all these clips into a timeline. Add the Flip effect to get the image right side up. Open the effect editor, Alt/Option Drag the effect to your bin. It will save the effect "with source". Now you can load that effect into your source monitor and the footage will travel with it, right side up.

In version 6, I would take these and "cheat" and call them 2D sources for stereo 3D editing. Once an S3D clip is created, you can load each one in the source monitor, show source timeline, and add some basic source side effects associated with stereo 3D editing, flip, flop, basic resize, and color matching.
