MC 6 Initializing Audio Input bug upon start-up
on Jan 25, 2012 at 12:34:04 pm

I've just recently purchased MC6. Today I installed the software and have discovered an error upon start-up. For some reason the start-up process stops at "intializing Audio Plugins". I receive an error message and the program is forced to quit.

Any suggestions how to resolve this??

I've got a great project I want to start editing and don't want to be stalled by a technical glitch.

Thanks to those who can help!

Did you open and run Avid the very first time as a user with Admin rights and privileges?

Thank you for the reply Ricky.

I'm not sure... so, I guess I'd have to say the answer is "no", as I don't remember doing this type of set up.

Can you let me know what I need to do? I am operating on Windows 7 (64-bit) Professional OS.

All the best,

We just upgraded to MC6 on Win 7 - works great but the first time you launch the app you must do so as a user with Administrator rights. I do not know if this is your problem but is something to try. Unfortunately, if you did not run as user with Admin rights, then I "believe" you must reinstall and do so. Hopefully someone more knowledgable will jump in to help.

Hi Ricky:

As I look over my documentation... I do see that prerequisite. I don't think I may have done that!

I'll check with my "computer guy" who may be able to get me through this.

Thanks for your input and suggestion.

Not sure about the windows side...but on the Mac side a lockup at the initiallizing audio stage could indicate a conflict with a third party Sound program. In my case a convertor called "soundflower" needed to be uninstalled, and then i believe Avid had to be re-installed.
