Hiding Mac desktop while editing with Avid
on Nov 26, 2011 at 7:28:07 am

Does anyone know how to hide the desktop behind the avid workspace with a solid colour when working in Mac? I can do it in Photoshop but can't find a way in MC. You can probably guess I am a native PC user!

Using OS Lion and MC6.

Thanks

Thanks Shane. I don't think I will ever get to like the Mac platform. Way too restrictive.

You could change your desktop to a solid color. :) Not really what you are looking for, I know. With MC open, hit CMD+Option+H to hide others.

Sorry.

Umm... Is there any way to NOT hide the desktop on a PC?

Not sure how one platform is more restrictive than the other in this regard.

Being able to hide the desktop/finder while in Avid is SO helpful. Prevents you from accidentally clicking outside of the app...Uber annoying.

I actually agree with you and him ...it's annoying.

As Lion supports full screen mode, Avid just needs to take advantage of that in an update...THAT would really fix the issue

Thanks Richard. Think from Freeverse (http://www.freeserve.com/think/) does the job of hiding the desktop nicely. I would recommend it to all editors who have to use Avid on a Mac.

Because 99.5% of the facilities i work in have PC's it is odd to change to the Mac version.

Now all I have to do is change the maximise, minimise and close button to the top right of the bins!
